SUMMARY:SILVER LAKE TRAIL OPENING CELEBRATION!!
DESCRIPTION:The Silver Lake Trail Opening!  \nFor many years\, visitors to Silver Lake Nature Center had asked “Is there a trail that goes completely around the lake?” Until now\, the answer has been “no.” Until recently\, the trail system only went about 75% the way around Silver Lake. For the past year\, Volunteers\, Staff\, and Interns have been working diligently to connect the two ends of the preexisting trail to form a complete 3.5 mile encompassing loop. \nThe new trail\, blazed in blue\, is called the “Silver Lake Trail.” It can be accessed from many points; however the official trailhead is located near the SLNC Visitors’ Building. This new trail traverses through many diverse habitats including lakeshore\, forest\, marsh\, and   meadows. There are some sections that offer a nice challenge to hikers and others that are paved walkways and boardwalks. Along the way you may encounter beautiful views\, wildlife\, or even remnants of human history. \nWe will continue to work on and improve this trail\, and we hope you can help us along the way. So join us here at Silver Lake Nature Center\, and let us know what you think of this new addition to your Natural Treasure. \nThe ribbon-cutting/opening event for the “Silver Lake Trail” is planned for Saturday\, November 9th at 11am!!  \n  \nSchedule: \n11am – 12pm ~ Ribbon Cutting (meet at SLNC Pavilion near Visitors’ Building) & Refreshments \n12pm-2pm ~ Guided Walk along the Silver Lake Trail (3.5 miles\, with varying levels of terrain – “rugged terrain throughout”) \n  \n
