However\, this season offers a unique opportunity to engage in winter sowing—a method that harnesses the cold to jumpstart the growing process. \nWhat is Winter Sowing? \nWinter sowing is a technique where seeds are planted in containers and left outside during the winter months. The seeds undergo a natural stratification process\, where the fluctuating temperatures and moisture conditions simulate the conditions of spring. By the time spring arrives\, the seeds have already begun to germinate\, giving them a head start and often resulting in stronger\, more resilient plants. \nEvent Highlights: \nWe will learn the ins and outs of winter sowing with this hands-on workshop. Topics will include selecting appropriate seeds\, preparing containers\, and understanding the benefits of cold stratification. \n\nWe’ll have a selection of Native seeds available for you to try!\nGet creative and make your own winter sowing containers.
