Thank you! \nJoin us on this not-so-spooky Fall Night Hike in search of the Nocturnal Creatures of the forest & wetlands! We will begin with mini pumpkin painting inside the SLNC Visitors’ Center\, followed by a hike through the dark forest in search of the creatures that are awake through the night. \nAlong the way\, we’ll stop at our Black-light Station on the Observation Platform to observe and identify moths and other nighttime insects. \nWe will finish our night with a campfire and s’mores at the SLNC Amphitheater. All people\, ages 6 and up\, are welcome to join us for this night of fall fun! \nCostumes and Halloween-festive attire are welcome. Please wear sturdy\, closed-toe shoes and choose clothing or costumes that allow you to safely navigate trails with varying terrain in the dark\, participate in the pumpkin painting craft\, and safely roast marshmallows. \nPlease note that we do not use flashlights during our Night Hike programs but let our eyes adjust naturally to the darkness. DESCRIPTION:Lessons from Earthships and biomimicry for passive greenhouse design. \nHow do organisms in nature heat and cool their structures? Together we will learn from all the solutions that already exist across nature as well as human design for how we can passively regulate the temperature of our growing spaces with accessible resources and tools. \nWe will learn how to optimize solar gain and thermal mass for future greenhouse buildings and discuss retrofits\, costs\, and benefits to enhancing the performance of existing structures. \n  \nThe Instructor for this awesome class is Elinor Stapylton\, Certified Earthship Biotecture Educator. Elinor holds a Masters in Science in Biomimicry from Arizona State University and a Bachelor’s in Biology & Environmental & Urban Studies from Bard College. She has a teaching certificate in Biotecture from the Earthship Biotecture Academy. DESCRIPTION:Yoga in Nature\nat Silver Lake Nature Center\nThursdays • 6–7 PM \nJoin us for a weekly all-levels Yoga Class led by Andrea Wytish\, a 500-Hour Certified Yoga Teacher. Classes are held outdoors in the Pergola at the SLNC Visitor’s Center (1306 Bath Rd\, Bristol\, PA).* No pre-registration is required — simply drop in. All levels are welcome. For ages 16+ (with a parent or guardian if under 18). \nEach Class is $18/person (cash\, Venmo\, or PayPal accepted). A portion of the proceeds supports the nonprofit Friends of Silver Lake Nature Center organization. \nPlease arrive 10–15 minutes early for registration\, payment\, and setup. \nPlease bring water and a yoga mat (limited mats are available on a first-come\, first-served basis). Layered clothing and a towel or blanket are also recommended. \n*Classes are held outdoors whenever possible and move indoors in the event of rain or extreme temperatures. Any cancellations due to instructor emergencies will be posted on Silver Lake Nature Center’s social media channels and website.
