The Friends of SLNC is hiring Summer Nature Camp Counselors!!

The Friends of Silver Lake Nature Center is looking for energetic and creative individuals to teach our 2023 Summer Nature Camp. These educators will work with campers ages 5 to 14. This is a nature-based camp that is both educational and fun. We do experiments, crafts, games, and go on daily hikes all while learning about the natural world. The camp will run for 10 weeks from June 19 to August 25, from 9:00am to 4:00pm with extended care available for the campers. This position would be a full day from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday for the 10 camp weeks. Counselors will also be required to participate in additional before care and after care shifts. The before care day starts at 7:30am and the aftercare day ends at 5:30pm. Counselors can be assigned one but not both on the same day. Additional week of counselor (paid) training just prior to camp required, June 12thto June 16th, from 10am to 4pm.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of college; degree completion a plus
- Background in environmental science and/or education preferred
- Lifeguard certification a plus
- Ability to work well with others
- Experience working with children
- Ability to sustain high energy levels and positive attitude throughout the camp
- Passion for the mission of Silver Lake Nature Center (SLNC) which is to inspire connections with nature for people of all ages, interests, and abilities through education, recreation, preservation, research, and advocacy.
