2017 Summer Camp Open House
Silver Lake Nature Center’s Auditorium
1pm to 4pm
Come get a tour of the nature preserve where our unique camps happen as well as a taste of some of the fun activities your child(ren) will experience!
Attendees will receive a special 10% off coupon for a week of Summer Camp.
(thanks to former camper and current CIT Sam Brooks for designing the map inside our new brochure!)
Immerse your child in nature! Our 235 acre preserve (within a larger 460 acre park) is filled with beautiful wetland, forest, field, stream, bog, waterfall, and lake habitats. They will be learning and playing in nature all summer long, and going off the beaten path to see the wonders of nature! Your children will catch creatures in our pond, roll logs for insects, build shelters in the woods, play interactive nature-themed games, make nature-inspired arts and crafts, meet our educational exhibit animals, take hikes and discover nature’s wonders throughout the preserve, all while making new friends and wonderful memories.
The camp runs for nine weeks from June 26 to August 25, full day from 9 am to 4 pm, with before and after care also available. Our camp is one of the most affordable in the county, with rates of $200 per week, and you can sign up for one week or all nine! Children ages 6 to 14 will get the personal attention of an average staff to camper ratio of 1:5.
We also offer two weeks of Preschool Camp ages 4 & 5, and CIT (Counselor-in-Training) opportunities for those 15 through 18 year old. Our camps are a unique opportunity to find out how amazing and fun the simple act unplugging and going outside can be!
Our unique camp allows your child the chance to choose from new and varied activities that broaden their world and nurture their connection to nature. Experienced, college educated staff will guide and inspire your child while allowing them to be themselves.
Here at Silver Lake your kids will be immersed in the outdoors, and they will come home tired and dirty, full of exciting stories about their firsthand experiences in nature. Our goal is to develop each child’s sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural world, and to give every child the chance to revive the lost art of being a kid and playing outside!
