Earthship

This amazing “demo-model” of an Earthship has been a big part of our existing programs since we “pounded” the first tire into it about 10 years ago! Since its completion in 2015, we have also been offering this unique building as a meeting space, for tours, and more! (Typically, the Earthship is used as a classroom for our Watersheds & Wetlands programs.)

This building can hold up to 20 people. Cost to rent is $30/hour.

We also offer tours of the Earthship! Please check out our events listing for when it is open for (free) public tours. Or, if you would like to schedule your own group’s (one-hour) tour of the Earthship & Trails, the cost would be $96 for up to 12 people.

There is also a beautiful sacred stone meditation circle outside of the Earthship, and all are welcome to visit any time between Sunrise and Sunset.

Please contact PattiAnn Cutter at  or 267-880-5022 to rent the Earthship for your special event or meeting.

7 Miles of Trails

The Trails wander through the diverse habitats preserved at SLNC. A half-mile double loop is accessible and can be reached from the SLNC Visitors’ Center or from the parking lot by Silver Lake.

080525 pavilionNatural Play Area for Children

This natural area is a place where children are encouraged to get off the trail and use their creativity. Many children today have lost contact with nature. This one-acre plot is fair game for exploration as they get to explore “off-Trail,” play in our sandbox/fossil pit, build a log shelter, poke around in the stream, look under logs and rocks, balance themselves on a log, and much more. Come explore this beautiful, fun place!
