PattiAnn’s adventures with Silver Lake Nature Center (SLNC) began in 2006 as a weekend Environmental Educator/Program Coordinator for Bucks County Parks & Recreation. She soon expanded her role by becoming a weekday Per Diem Educator with the nonprofit Friends of SLNC, eventually holding dual part-time positions that together provided full-time hours—exemplifying the symbiotic partnership between the Friends and Bucks County. After a couple years, PattiAnn was hired full-time by the Friends of SLNC. Several years later in 2017, she became Assistant Director–Naturalist, and was appointed Director–Naturalist in 2022, both county-funded roles. She is deeply grateful to work alongside/with a dedicated, amazing Staff, Board, and Volunteer team to advance SLNC’s mission of inspiring connections with Nature through education, recreation, preservation, research, and advocacy—while ensuring every Visitor feels welcome.
PattiAnn holds an Associate Degree in Education from the Community College of Philadelphia and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Temple University, along with extensive continuing education in environmental studies. Her background includes teaching kindergarten in a private school, teaching in & ultimately co-leading the Environmental Education Program for the Spring-Ford Area School District, in addition to educating at several regional nature centers (concurrently), including Riverbend, Churchville, and Radnor Township Parks & Recreation. With over 25 years in environmental education and a strong love of Nature & working with people, she also brings valuable business, financial, and management experience from the retail and banking industries.
PattiAnn invites & encourages everyone to get outside and enjoy the beautiful SLNC Trails, as well as the Nature in your own backyard and all around!

January 20, 2026 ~ Welcome, Tie!!
Tie’s passion for the environment was sparked during their time as a Girl Scout. They loved camping, hiking, boating, and having campfires with their troop. They earned their Gold Award and are now a lifetime member of Girl Scouts. They graduated from Smith College with a bachelors degree in Environmental Science and Policy. While in college they participated in two environmental education internships, one at Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge and one at the Tulpehaking Nature Center. These experiences showed Tie that environmental education was the field for them. They are very passionate about sharing their enthusiasm for nature and science with learners of all ages. Tie enjoys baking, reading, watching nature documentaries, taking their dog, Ivy, on walks at the park, and fostering kittens for Trenton Cats Rescue.
