Join Us for the North American Butterfly Association’s Annual Butterfly Count!
Silver Lake Nature Center is excited to participate in the North American Butterfly Association’s (NABA) Annual Butterfly Count on Saturday, July 25, at 10am. Join Naturalist Robert Mercer for this important Citizen Science event as we help monitor local butterfly populations.
Everyone is welcome! While experience identifying Butterflies is helpful, it is not required. This is a great opportunity to learn, explore Nature, and contribute to valuable conservation research.
Please be prepared for plenty of walking. Dress for the weather, bring water, and if you have them, bring binoculars. Please Note: For the safety and well-being of the butterflies, we will identify them using binoculars and cameras only. Butterfly nets will not be used during this event.
We will meet at the Welcome Kiosk outside of the SLNC Visitors’ Center (1306 Bath Rd., Bristol, PA 19007). Our Count will start on this side of Bath Rd., then after a short (“bring your own”) lunch/snack break, we will move to the Delhaas Woods portion of Silver Lake Nature Center.
Registration is required to participate. The fee is $3 per person, with all proceeds benefiting the North American Butterfly Association (NABA).
