Join us on Saturday, June 9^th, at 7pm for a Special Presentation by Local Historian, Clarence King, to celebrate the 100^th Anniversary of our “Intern Cottage!” This house was built by Clarence King’s father when the Silver Lake Nature Center was still farmland! Mr. King will guide us through the years with pictures and stories of his childhood home and of Silver Lake. And, what is an Anniversary Celebration without cake? So we’ll also be providing cake for our guests!

In addition, every Year the Intern Cottage at Silver Lake Nature Center provides temporary housing for local college students working at the Nature Center. As an intern, the students get hands-on experience assisting the staff with educational programs, maintaining the grounds, and operating the Nature Center.

To replenish some much-needed furnishings for the students and prepare the cottage for the upcoming Centennial Anniversary celebration of its construction, the Friends of Silver Lake Nature Center has created three donation registries at Target, Kohl’s, and Boscov’s, listing the items most in need.

To donate an item, simply access the registries (with the “event date” being 6/9/18) named Silver Lake Nature Center (that is, First Name: Silver Lake Last Name: Nature Center) on-line or in the stores and select the item you which to donate. Items may be dropped off at the Nature Center Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 10am to 5pm or on Sundays, from Noon to 5pm.
