$8

Registration for this event is closed. Event is FULL. Thank you!!

Winter may seem like a time when gardening is put on hold. However, this season offers a unique opportunity to engage in winter sowing—a method that harnesses the cold to jumpstart the growing process.

What is Winter Sowing?

Winter sowing is a technique where seeds are planted in containers and left outside during the winter months. The seeds undergo a natural stratification process, where the fluctuating temperatures and moisture conditions simulate the conditions of spring. By the time spring arrives, the seeds have already begun to germinate, giving them a head start and often resulting in stronger, more resilient plants.

Event Highlights:

We will learn the ins and outs of winter sowing with this hands-on workshop. Topics will include selecting appropriate seeds, preparing containers, and understanding the benefits of cold stratification.

  1. We’ll have a selection of Native seeds available for you to try!
  2. Get creative and make your own winter sowing containers. We’ll provide materials and guidance on how to repurpose everyday items into effective sowing tools.

Get a jumpstart on next spring and join us for this fun event!
